Upper level (operator's control)
Upper level includes Power control center equipment, which controls several remote stations, i.e. equipment of several geographically distributed substations. Software and hardware complex of Power control center includes:
- automated operator's workstation (main and backup);
- automated equipment diagnostics workstation;
- data servers (main and backup);
- communication equipment for communication with middle level equipment;
- UPS, and visualization devices (video wall) on the basis of panels with diagonal of 55”.
Functions:
- data exchange with remote stations (substation control level);
- storage and primary data processing in real time mode;
- event and failures logging, detection of technological equipment failures, emergency and non-routine situations, as well as providing operational or process support personnel with necessary information;
- information visualization, represented as diagrams, block diagrams, etc.;
- software and hardware complex equipment and communication channels diagnostics.
Software and hardware complex of automated operational control system equipment at upper level is based on SCADA system and provides:
- failure-free operation of the upper-level complex upon failures of certain components through its redundancy and backup, timely diagnostic messages during power supply control process in its entirety;
- possibility of enhancement of the upper-level system in case of putting new power supply facilities into operation;
- simultaneous operation of actual and new equipment during modernization of the old telecontrol systems;
- convenient and user-friendly HMI support;
- high level of data reliability and data protection;
- secure control commands fulfillment and receiving of commands fulfillment confirmation messages;
- possibility of increasing data volume transferred to Power control center without changing hardware;
- possibility of substations equipment group control.
While implementation of Operator's automated workstation for control of remote stations are applied Precision™ workstations T5500 produced by Dell, provided for operation under production-line conditions and upon round-the-clock service with one shutdown maintenance per year.
Monitors of Operator's automated workstation display:
- substations single-line diagrams, information on any component of mnemonic diagram;
- information on equipment state, up-to-date, archive and referral information;
- current values of remote signaling, remote measurement, remote control, trend data, events that happened, normative-reference information and other information.
For acquisition and processing of data gained from substations remote stations are applied modern back-up servers. Application of hot back-up concept allows solving tasks of bumpless switching and providing of sustainable system performance in case of failure of one back-up equipment unit.
In case of failure of one server all functions of software and hardware package remain entirely workable, speed parameters of data exchange between Operator's workstation and remote stations remain at the same level, as well as message processing and detection of emergency situations.
Communication channels are the most critical component of software and hardware package, so application of two network interface cards in each server allows providing two-fold redundancy, and, consequently, increased reliability of communication components.
Engineering workstation is provided for monitoring and diagnostics of operation of all telecontrol equipment, as well as maintenance and modernization of software for the whole software and hardware package.
Functions of engineering workstation:
- display of the whole telecontrol equipment status (power supply, self-diagnostics, signaling etc.);
- display of single-line diagram of power supply units in view mode, without possibility of telecontrol;
- display of status of all communication channels and interfaces;
- diagnostics and control of telecontrol system operation;
- request for the restricted information archive and its review for any period of time;
- recording (print output) of telecontrol equipment state.
